In the second half of October through early November, depending on the progress of the season, saffron, a typical PDO product of L’Aquila and, more specifically, the Navelli plain, is harvested.
There are many experiential tourism options related to this event, which allow not only to learn the origins, history and production process of the precious spice, but also to directly experience its harvesting, blossoming and drying, as well as to taste a range of typical products with and without saffron.
