Whatever your interests, you should not miss a visit to the city of L’Aquila, whose center has been almost completely restored after the 2009 earthquake, recalling it to the magnificence of centuries ago.<\/h4>\n

The town can be reached by car from Caporciano in less than half an hour. If you arrive early, you can park in the “Bright Fountain” area, which is closest to the center, or in the large parking lot under the Collemaggio BUS terminal, which is connected by a tunnel to Piazza Duomo (and the moving walkways should be restored soon).<\/p>\n

Even a full day allows only a taste of the city, and you will have to make choices according to your preferences.<\/p>\n

Not to be missed are the Basilica of Collemaggio<\/strong>, the Spanish Castle<\/strong>, the church of San Bernardino<\/strong>, a tour of the center, along the main street and neighboring streets onto which open imposing historic buildings that have been completely restored. Slightly offset from the center is the famous Monumental Fountain of the 99 Spouts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The center offers several churches in the Abruzzi Romanesque style and numerous palaces. Deserving a visit, as a building and for its collections, is the MAXXI Museum.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shopping and relaxation<\/h4>\n

Not to be missed is a stop at Caff\u00e8 Nurzia<\/strong>, in Piazza del Duomo, famous for its tender chocolate nougat<\/strong> (also used in cream to “correct” an espresso, which turns into a little treat). Not far away is Parco 1923<\/strong> ‘s store with fragrances inspired by mountain scents, Colacchi bookstore, with an extensive section of books on Abruzzo hiking guides and maps, and a treat: L’Afficherie<\/strong> poster and advertising sign store (18 Simonetto Street).<\/p>\n

For dinner, Elodia Restaurant<\/strong>, also along the course, is recommended for context, service and quality of dishes. If you prefer a break from sightseeing, you can have lunch at Elodia’s and stop for dinner on the way back in Poggio Picenze atOsteria della Posta.<\/strong><\/p>\n
