Relaxation at Lake Sinizzo
In about 15 minutes by car from Caporciano you can reach this small lake, where you can spend a few hours relaxing
Lake Sinizzo is Ideal at the end of a tiring day, or as a break after days of physical exertion. It is unclear whether and under what terms bathing is allowed, to protect the lake environment, certainly not because of pollution problems.
I would avoid, in July and especially August, weekends, when it is very crowded. Very enjoyable during the week and, of course, in other seasons.
If needed, in San Demetrio, there is a counter for BPER bank withdrawals, refueling, a bar, and, near the village exit to the Subequan Valley, an excellent bakery-pastry shop.
The lake can also be reached with a nice mountain bike excursion, passing on the dirt road that runs along the Navelli plain toward Tussio, passing Prata d’Ansidonia and San Nicandro and here taking the small road that, passing by the State Forestry Corps Nursery, comes out at the Barisciano junction. Shortly before, on the left, there is access to a downhill path. To take it you must essentially make a U-turn over the guard rail.
Initially a bit steep, the path then becomes a road with breccia, which descends toward San Demetrio nei Vestini. After passing, on the left, a very small country chapel, take the path that, on the left, enters the woods and, after a bit of a descent, will bring you out at the lake. From there, for the return journey, you can follow the provincial road, with little traffic, that from San Demetrio leads back to San Nicandro and from there to Caporciano.

- For the lake, provided in the summer season a payment of 5 euros per car
- Depending on the time of day, on your way back to Caporciano you can stop at Peltuinum, even for a sunset aperitif (which you must bring along in picnic mode)
