The Palace
Check in is normally scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m., but you are welcome to come to the Palace even earlier to deposit your luggage and start exploring the sites.
Check out is by 11 AM. Please consult our website for premium options such as early or late check in and late check out.
You will be welcomed by your host, who will take you on a tour of the Palace, explaining its history and collections, and will remain available for advice on what to see and do during the week, depending on your interests.
Depending on your arrival time, you may have time for an initial exploratory walk, an escape to the supermarket, or just relaxing in the garden.
For dinner we recommend the local pizza restaurant, “Secondo Tempo,” which can be reached in less than a 10-minute walk. Tasty home cooking in a family atmosphere that will immediately make you feel part of the village or, a 5 minute drive away in Bominaco, Agriristoro Le Origini.
Of course there are plenty of great restaurants within a short drive from Palazzo D’Alessandro (see our suggestions), but if you are arriving after a long drive, you may want not to take your car again.
Breakfast is available, in the B&B formula, served at the facility or, by arrangement, at the local bar.
Animals are not normally allowed. Any exceptions are at the discretion of management.
With the exception of the cellars, the whole Palazzo including the garden has internet access through 20 wifi access points connected to high speed fiber lines.
YES most of these villages have been cabled!

There is a washing machine and a Dryer that guests can use.
Alternatively you can leave the laundry in the evening, it will be picked up in the morning, washed and folded by an outside service, and returned at night.
The cost for the outside laundry service is 40€ per load up to 12 kg. Whites and colors are washed separately. Shirts and ironing also possible by arrangement.
Even though we originally cabled the Palazzo to have a TV set in every apartment/suite, we eventually decided against it. Small tv screens would not be appropriate for the setting, while large LED screens would spoil the atmosphere and décor.
While here enjoy the silence, talk to each other, play (ask us for some board game), make love, or, if you really want to watch something, connect to the web! The wifi connection is streaming ready!
Moving
Coming from Rome, take the A24 highway, exit at L’Aquila Est and follow the signs for Popoli/Pescara that take us onto the S.S. 17. After about 25 km you enter a wide valley. After a couple of kilometers, exit to the right at the FIRST roud about that indicates, Caporciano-Bominaco and arrive in the upper part of the village following the signs Bominaco-Capolaterra.
When you arrive at the village, indicated by a sign “Caporciano Città d’Arte” you can enter the village and park behind the tower, along the course or along the road that continues, with a sharp bend, toward Bominaco. From there follow signs to Palazzo D’Alessandro, not far away.
You can call for help with directions or with luggage.
Coming from the north on the Adriatic, exit at Giulianova and take the A24. After the Gran Sasso tunnel, exit at L’Aquila Est and see directions above.
Coming from Pescara, or from the south on the Adriatic, at Pescara take the A25 to Rome, exit at Bussi sul Tirino and follow signs for Capestrano-L’Aquila. After the village of Navelli, exit left at the SECOND traffic circle indicating Caporciano/Bominaco (you have on the right , not far away, the church of S.M. dei Cinturelli).
In any case DO NOT PLUG THE COORDINATED OF PALAZZO D’ALESSANDRO in the navigator or Google Maps. You will get stuck in the alleys!

For those who wish to use the train, there are several options but all require one leg by bus or rented car.
a) “Radical” 100% train option: arrive by train in Rome, then take train to Terni L’Aquila and from L’Aquila Train L’Aquila Sulmona getting off at San Demetrio nei Vestini, where we will pick you up by car. A Bus to Caporciano is also available from L’Aquila (long journey with problematic connections).
b) From Rome, alternatively, there are very fast highway buses to L’Aquila from Tiburtina Station and Leonardo da Vinci Airport. From L’Aquila you can take another bus to Caporciano.
c) Arrive by train in Pescara, along the Adriatic line, which is also well served by High Speed trains, and from Pescara take one of the many buses going to L’Aquila, getting off at Navelli or San Pio delle Camere, where we pick you up.
d) For a 100% train option possible from Pescara take the train to L’Aquila (change at Sulmona) getting off at San Demetrio nei Vestini where we pick you up.
Inland mountain areas are not very well served by public transportation, so a car is also useful for sightseeing. For our guests who choose to avoid cars, who intend to move then on foot or by bicycle, we provide free of charge, in the “Saturday to Saturday” formula, transfer to and from the nearest station.
In the B&B formula, with a stay of less than 7 days, we are available to help in arranging transfer, also relying on local private services, with cost to be agreed upon.
The nearest airport is Pescara (90 km) but Rome Fiumicino Leonardo Da Vinci (150km) offers more routes. From Fiumicino there are highway buses to L’Aquila. From Pescara airport, bus to the city where there are several buses to L’Aquila, stopping at Navelli or San Pio delle Camere.
Both airports have car rentals and NCC (chauffeur-driven car rentals).
Some mountain bikes are available to guests free of charge. Some e-bikes available for rent. Reservations prior to arrival are recommended.
Thermal bags, iceboxes and other camping equipment for your excursions are available to guests.

Safety regulations and the sensitivity of modern equipment make the electrical system very sensitive to power anomalies, not rare in the area, especially with rain, storms.
If the power goes out the safety lights will automatically turn on. Most of the time it is just a matter of re-arming the circuit breaker(s). Please refer to the instruction specific for your apartment.
Of course, if the outage is at the source, a rare occurrence, … quoting Phil Collins… ”you just have to wait”.
